H I S T O R Y

Mieke was born in London, UK, in 1974, to Charlene Heineken and Michel de Carvalho, the first daughter of the newly wedded couple. She wasn't the only for long, however. In the span of seven years, Mieke was followed by four other siblings, and she spent most of her childhood until she was ten playing with them in the manor they lived in just outside the capital. It was this way she came into knowing about her rather peculiar powers, playing dress-up or war-games with her brothers and sisters.

Thing was, they never found it odd Mieke suddenly knew so much about whatever it was they were playing, as she spent a lot of time reading in the mansion's library, and they just assumed she'd read it in a book somewhere.

At age 10, Mieke was shipped off to live with her grandfather in Amsterdam, Freddy Heineken, to learn about "the family business", though she never quite understood what her mother meant, because she knew Charlene hadn't taken a step into a brewery in years. While she missed her brothers and sisters, Mieke found Amsterdam to be much more liberating, and that her grandfather really didn't have all that much time for her, so she was usually allowed to roam freely as long as she didn't step into the more unsavoury areas of town.

Growing up in Amsterdam, Mieke fell in with a group of musicians from her college who thought it was wicked cool that she was the granddaughter, and ultimately heiress of the brewery King, and because she also played the piano and violin decently, she was accepted quickly into their throng.

They set up plays and Mieke played parts when she could, turning out to be a natural, mostly because of her abilities, but she never revealed that to be it. They just thought she did an autracious amount of reading for each part she had to play.

Eventually, Mieke moved into her own apartment, furnished and located in tune with her social environment, and could almost pass for a normal Dutch citizen, if not for her surname. So she cut it to "de Carvalho", and only uses Heineken when it is absolutely necessary.

Mieke stayed in Amsterdam until she was 22 when she was called back to the UK to work in her father's office, rather reluctantly, as she had just met someone she found interesting, not four months before. But as the dutiful little heiress girl, she went back to London and bored her way through the training and whatnot until she literally screamed in the middle of a business meeting. After talking with her parents again, they agreed to let her find work on her own in London.

And so she did.

Mieke, now 24, works at a bookstore as a clerk, knowing she will eventually have to return and take care of the fortune (she just doesn't want to live as a business manager. Stock broking? No problem), while playing and singing jazz at a club near her London apartment each night she has the time and the inclination.

P E R S O N A L I T Y

Mieke is, above all, spirited. She might be slightly naive at times, and some people would mistake her good natured disposition for stupidity, but she'll quickly set whoever dared offend her straight, if they remark on it.

She's fond of people, and likes to be surrounded at all times, so if you decide to stop by her apartment some time, most likely, there'll be at least two other people visiting at the same time. More often than not, these people are her neighbours and leave whenever Mieke passes out on the couch, or when they do.

She'll initiate conversation even if there's really nothing to talk about, but will steer it in a direction where she might have something to add easily enough.
